Owner tells us this is 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Original Black-Plate California car. Rare original factory fiberglass hardtop. Original side curtain windows. Original spare tire, jack and tools. The car is “dry as a bone” and has NO RUST! Original paint. The car was found stored in a garage for 40+ years in the Northern California desert. All cosmetic “patina” is original including a “paint problem” on the right front fender that was “sanded and primered” by the owner some time in the late 1960’s. The car has never been crashed although it does have 50 years worth of bumps, scratches and paint chips. It even has “pencil marks” draw on the hood by the previous owner’s children while the car was stored in the garage. The car has been mechanically refreshed to reliable “daily driver” status with a full tune-up including spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, condenser, engine belt, starter, radiator, thermostat, water pump, front & rear brakes, brake master cylinder, rear wheel bearings, ignition switch, new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel lines, fresh coolant & brake fluid, oil & filter and a new set of tires.
We love patina around here but this may have a smidge more than ideal. The NO RUST comment is backed off from in the Q&A at the bottom of the eBay listing which can be found here. Bidding has reached $6,600 at this writing which is getting awfully close to the level where it make more sense to “buy the best example you can afford” level. These are cool little cars but hardly rare.
